NetLibrary Collection 4

COPPUL will start NetLibrary Collection 4 on March 1. The collection will be commonly referred to as COPPUL IV and libraries will see the collection listed in that way in the NetLibrary Resource Centre, where ownership and use reports can be generated.

There will be 14 libraries participating in this new collection:

Simon Fraser U.
Thompson Rivers U.
Trinity Western U.
U.C. of the Fraser Valley
U. of Alberta
U. of Lethbridge
U. of Manitoba
U. of Regina

An updated copy of the NetLibrary user guide and the latest consortia eligible title list have been sent to the participants.

RefWorks Hosting

COPPUL sites that chose to have their RefWorks/RefShare subscriptions hosted on OCUL's Scholars Portal will migrate in late April and early May. Invoices will be sent out in April and cover the period May 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008. The cost for hosting is $500 Cdn for RefWorks and $250 Cdn for RefShare.

Designing Web Sites Course

Limited space is still available in ACRL's 4-week online course, "Designing Web Sites for Academic Libraries, Part 1."

The course will be offered March 5-31. Participants will learn the basics of Web site planning and design and content development, with a concentration on academic libraries. The course will also examine Web standards, usability, and accessibility. XHTML and CSS (external) will be introduced.

E-Books News

NetLibrary Collection 4 to be opened March 1. Members to confirm participation by Friday, February 23.

Books 24x7 offer is being prepared. Dates and pricing not yet confirmed.

Elsevier has submitted an unsolicited offer for its Life Science Book Series with the option to include its other e-book series. COPPUL's E-Books Task Group is evaluating the offer and its timing.

Forthcoming Conference Calls

RefWorks participants conference call with OCUL Scholars Portal staff scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 1:00 - 2:00 pm EST. Alternate call scheduled for Tuesday, February 20, 1:00 - 2:00 pm EST.

COPPUL Executive Committee conference call scheduled for Monday, February 19, 1:00-2:00 pm PST.
